Saudi-Bound OFWs: Check Your Electronic Gadgets

A non-government organization, Migrante-Middle East reminds overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) bound to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to make sure that all electronic items they are carrying doesn’t contain any material that may be deemed as illegal or unacceptable in Saudi’s beliefs and customs.

According to Migrante, screening of electronic devices of migrant workers arriving in the airports of Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah are currently being implemented.

New Rules in Visa Application to Saudi Arabia

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that all foreigners to enter the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) for the purposes of visit, pilgrimage to Mecca and work would now be subjected to fingerprinting and full-face digital photographs.

Starting next year, the same procedure would also be required to all Filipinos to apply for a visa in the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in the country. The exact date when the new visa issuance system will start is yet to be given.

"EDI in the 2010 Global Job Fair in
Seoul, South Korea"

Last October 9 – 10, 2010, EDI Staffbuilders, along with more or less 200 companies from around the world, joined in the 2010 Global Job Fair, held in the COEX Convention Center in Seoul, South Korea. The Convention Center is one of the largest event areas in the country, having catered many political, social, and entertainment events in the country.

The said event became a venue for exhibitors to find fit workers for their different job requirements. At the same time, it also served as a spot for Korean workers to find a job that will suit their qualifications. All in all, the two-day event was concluded a success as collaborations between companies and candidates took place in the Land of the Morning Calm.

EDI Staffbuilders is the only Filipino-owned company to be invited and joined the said gathering. With the Global Job Fair taking place, it is affirmative to look forward to future progressive ties between the Philippines and South Korea, particularly in terms of commerce and employment.
